Two teens were killed in a single-car accident Sunday night on
White Oak Road in Gates County, N.C., according to North Carolina
Highway Patrol.
The two victims, Casey Jenkins, 14, of Eure, N.C., and
Whitney Drake, 13, Gates, N.C., were being driven by Drake's mother
Alexandra Drake, 35, in a 2002 Buick Regal when she hit a ditch,
then a fence, then a tree.
Police say the car overturned multiple times. They also say that
Jenkins, the front seat passenger, was not wearing a seatbelt at
the time of the accident; Whitney Drake was.
Alexandra Drake was airlifted to a hospital in Greenville and
her condition is unknown.
The crash is still under investigation, but police say that speed was a factor, and that alcohol may have been a factor, but further testing is still needed.
