ACCOMACK COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) - Virginia State Police are investigating three new fires on the Eastern Shore and have ruled two of them arson.
According to Sgt. Michelle Anaya with Virginia State Police, the first arson occurred around 9:20 p.m. Monday in the 19000 block of Quinby Bridge Road in Quinby. There, a two-story, abandoned, uninhabitable, dilapidated building suffered fire damage to the rear.
Investigators received a call for a second arson just minutes later in the 21000 block of Fair Oaks Road in Melfa where a two-story building burned to the ground.
Anaya said a call for a third fire came from Exmore just before 2 a.m. Tuesday in the 12000 block of Houston Street. Exmore is located just south of Accomack County. A single-story building that was reportedly unoccupied suffered interior fire damage.
There were no injuries in the fires.
Anyone with information on the rash of arsons plaguing the Eastern Shore is asked to call State Police as soon as possible. There is a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest of the suspects.
Investigators do believe the arsons are the work of several people working in connection.
