NORFOLK, VA - A partial closure of Boush and Bute Streets is scheduled to begin on Friday, July 17, and continue for approximately seven days. The closure is necessary to allow for utility work in preparation for light rail construction and is the first of two phases of work in the area. Crews will work from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily to complete the first phase of the project by July 24, weather permitting.
Two southbound traffic lanes on Boush Street will be reduced to one lane and shifted east between Bute Street and Freemason Street. Two-way traffic on Boush Street will be maintained at all times. One-way traffic westbound will be maintained on Bute Street, between Boush Street and Duke Street for a few weeks, before two-way traffic resumes. Signs will be posted to alert motorists of the partial road closure.
Sections of the south side of Bute Street between Boush Street and Duke Street may be temporarily closed to pedestrians. Access to the York Street parking garage will be maintained.
As alternate routes, motorists are encouraged to take Saint Paul’s Boulevard, Monticello Avenue or Granby Street for north and southbound travel. Off-duty police will be on-site to direct traffic at the intersection of Boush and Bute Streets.
