VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - The annual Toys for Tots campaign kicked off last week at local toy stores.
Since the program's inception in 1947, U.S. Marines have handed out more than 416 million toys for children around the world.
"This is the third time this box has been filled up in the past two days, so for the children, it's gonna be a great Christmas," Gregory Rogers with the U.S. Marine Corps said.
Once the Marines collect the toys, they take them to a warehouse where parents can shop and take home items for their children.
Toys For Tots bins are located outside most local Toys R Us locations
