YORK COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) - Early Saturday morning, Virginia State Police troopers responded to an armed robbery that occurred on Interstate 64 at the 240 mile marker in York County, near the Camp Peary exit.

The preliminary investigation revealed a tow truck driver for David's Towing stopped to assist a broken down black Honda Accord on I-64. The Honda Accord had New York state registration and was occupied by two black males.

According to a press release from Sgt. Michelle Anaya, the driver of the tow truck was held at gunpoint, assaulted and robbed of $40 by the two men in the Accord. The male suspects fled the scene and were last seen heading westbound on Interstate 64.

The incident remains under investigation by the Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigations. Anyone with information or who may have been a witness to this incident is asked to contact Special Agent M. Cotten with the Virginia State Police at 757-424-6800.
