CHESAPEAKE, Va. - Thousands of Verizon phone customers who lost service during the nor'easter are still waiting to hear a ring tone.

Verizon spokesperson Laura Barnes told WAVY.com there are 3,000 customers in the South Norfolk section of Chesapeake without service, as of Wednesday evening. They started with 11,000 outages.

According to Barnes, crews have been working around the clock since last week restoring service.

Barnes said Verizon hopes to have all service restored by Saturday.

Verizon set up free phone banks for residents at 1414 Guerrier Street.
