VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - Beach police quickly apprehended a juvenile who pulled a knife on a gas station clerk and demanded money at a Citgo service station on Northampton Boulevard Monday.
Police say the juvenile entered the business, went to the restroom, then came out pulling his jacket hood over his head while approaching the clerk. He then pulled a knife out and pressed it against the victim's neck and demanded money, police said Tuesday.
The quick thinking clerk activated the alarm and the suspect fled the business without getting any money.
A second clerk chased down the suspect and saw him go into the nearby Wingate Hotel. Within 11 minutes of the robbery, police were able to locate the suspect inside the hotel and he was taken into custody without incident.
The 16-year-old suspect has been charged with Attempted Armed Robbery. He's being held at the Virginia Beach Juvenile Detention Center pending a court hearing.
