CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) - Local teacher Meghan Hodgins is being recognized by the Virginia Lottery as this year's newest Super Teacher.
Hodgins goes above and beyond every single school day and for 12 years has taught special needs children at Chesapeake's Creek Central Elementary.
One of eight teachers selected in the Commonwealth, Hodgins said she was happy to be nominated.
"I just cried, I just cried for like half an hour because it was just so overwhelming that somebody thought so positive of me and that was really amazing," Hodgins told WAVY.com.
As Super Teacher of the Year, Hodgins won a $2,000 credit for classroom supplies and $2,000 in cash.
