SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - A woman pulled from a house fire in Suffolk Saturday has died.
Mary Rodgers, 69, died Sunday morning at Norfolk Sentara Hospital.
Neighbors said Rodgers crawled out of the home during the fire, then she went back inside the burning home to save two dogs.
Rodgers was airlifted to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital for burns and smoke inhalation, according to a fire department spokesperson.
The homeowner, Janet Boyle, is listed in fair condition at Sentara Obici Hospital in Suffolk after being treated for smoke inhalation.
Officials say the fire sparked in the kitchen and believe it to be accidental in nature. The cause is still under investigation.
