Teen indicted in deadly DUI crash

SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - A teen accused of driving drunk in a crash that killed a Nansemond Suffolk Academy student in April has been indicted.

The teen, whose identity has not been released, was indicted on charges of involuntary manslaughter and DWI. His next hearing is scheduled for Feb. 7 where he will enter a plea.

The crash occurred happened just after 2 a.m. in the 1700 block of Cherry Grove Road in Suffolk on April 29, 2012. The vehicle was headed north when the car went off the road, pinning both the driver and Ian Burgett, 18, inside the car.

Burgett was pronounced dead a few hours after the crash at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

The driver suffered non-life threatening injuries.
