SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Suffolk's 35th Annual Peanut Festival began Thursday and is set to last though Sunday, honoring the peanut as a food source and economic generator.
Events include a fireworks show, food vendors, a jalapeno eating contest and a motorcycle rally.

Local students will be performing throughout the day Friday on the Family Stage, as well as displaying original art throughout the festival in the school division's entrance tent.
