Suffolk names firefighter, paramedic of the year

SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Suffolk Fire and Rescue honored its Firefighter and Paramedic of the Year.

Diana Klink with the City of Suffolk said acting Battalion Chief David Harrell was selected as Firefighter of the Year while Firefighter/Medic Colt Pulley was selected Paramedic of the year.

Harrell began his fire career at the Driver Volunteer Fire Department in 1995 and was one of the first to enroll in the Southside Regional Fire Academy as a volunteer. Following graduation, Harrell was promoted to Lieutenant in 2000 and Captain in 2005.

Pulley began his career in 1997 as a volunteer in Ivor and joined Suffolk Fire and Rescue in 2003. In December, Pully graduated from the Hampton Roads Fire Officer Command School.

Interim Fire Chief Ed Taylor commended Harrell and Pulley on their awards.
