SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - A leader in the textile industry is expanding its operations in Suffolk.

Trans-Ocean, which manufactures and distributes area rugs, home accessories and pillows announced Thursday it is going to relocate several of its sewing operations currently performed in Asia to Suffolk.

The company says the $1.1 million investment will reduce imports and will create 12 new jobs locally.

Trans-Ocean has operated a site in Suffolk since 2000. Part of its new plans include expanding the current facility on Obici Industrial Boulevard another 30,000 square-feet over the next five years.

The company is headquartered in White Plains, N.Y.
