SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - A Suffolk woman says someone shot her pit bulls as she let them outside Wednesday afternoon.
Teresa Fritts moved to a home off Meadow Country Road in September for the peace and quiet the rural community offered. She allowed her two pit bulls to roam free in the yard without any problems until Tuesday afternoon.
She told WAVY.com she let the dogs out and minutes later, heard gunshots. Her pats ran up to her covered in blood.
"I'm hurt 'cause these are my babies," Fritts said. "I don't have kids. [The dogs] are my kids, so I'm hurt. Nobody's ever come to us and said, 'Your dogs are in our yard,' or, 'Your dogs are bothering us.' [What happened] was just inhumane. That's just not right."
Fritts says one dog, 6-month-old Nino, has minor injuries, and the second dog, 3-year-old Daisy, suffered a broken back leg and severed tendon.
No arrests have been made and no suspect information is available at this time.
