SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - One person was injured following a duplex fire in Suffolk Monday afternoon.
According to Debbie George with the City of Suffolk, crews were called to the 6000 block of Brookwood Drive just before 4 p.m. Monday for a house fire.
George said a disabled woman who is legally blind lived on one side of the duplex. Her son cut his hand trying to save her from inside of the home before crews arrived, but she was at a doctor's appointment.
Crews arrived to a fully-involved fire at the single story duplex. Three adults and two children were displaced on the side of the duplex where the fire started and two more adults were displaced from the other side.
