SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - An accidental fire in downtown Suffolk sent one person to the hospital with a burn to the leg Thursday.
Diana Klink with the Suffolk Police Department said firefighters were dispatched to the 200 block of North 4th Street for a report of a residential fire around 7:45 p.m. Once on scene, they found heavy fire coming from the home.
Crews were able to contain the fire to three downstairs rooms.
The sole occupant was treated on scene and then transported to Sentara Obici Hospital for minor burns to his leg. The home did have working smoke detectors, Klink said.
