SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - The driver of a tractor trailer involved in an accident on Nansemond Parkway Wednesday morning was arrested and charged with suspected driving under the influence of drugs, failure to obey highway sign, reckless driving and a logbook violation.
The accident occurred at 5:15 a.m. between Kings Highway and Shoulder's Hill Road and shut down traffic for several hours.
The truck ran off the right side of the road, into a ditch, and rolled onto its right side.
Police said the driver, 56-year-old Charles Benton, Jr., was not injured in the accident.
The accident remains under investigation.
