SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - A Suffolk woman is accused of stabbing her teenage daughter multiple times in the back while she slept. Police said she then turned the knife on herself.

The incident occurred Jan. 24 around 1:30 a.m. in the 4200 block of Pruden Boulevard, Suffolk police spokesperson Debbie George said.

Rhonda Hingerty, 41, was arrested and charged with one count of felonious assault.

Hingerty was treated and released from Sentara Norfolk General Hospital on Tuesday. Upon her release, she was charged and taken to Western Tidewater Regional Jail.
