SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - A fuel spill forced a roadway in Suffolk to close early Wednesday morning and police have cited one driver for reckless driving.
Debbie George with the City of Suffolk told WAVY.com a crash involving a Perdue tractor trailer and another vehicle occurred where Route 58 Bypass and Portsmouth Boulevard merge occurred 2:45 a.m. Two patients suffered minor injuries.
Because of the crash, diesel fuel spilled onto the roadway. One lane was closed around 4:30 a.m. and traffic was backed up about five miles.
Diana Klink with the City of Suffolk said all travel lanes reopened just before 10 a.m. The driver of the tractor trailer as well as a passenger in the other vehicle were transported to Sentara Obici Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the other vehicle involved was cited for reckless driving, Klink said.
Further information surrounding the crash was not immediately available.
