Driver dies after Suffolk accident

SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - The driver involved in a single vehicle accident on Route 17 north and Western Freeway in Suffolk has died.
City spokeswoman Debbie George said the driver ran off the road and struck a pole at 5:30 p.m. George said the victim died at the hospital.
The identity of the driver has not been released.
The ramp to Route 17 north from I-664 south is currently closed.
