Delays expected on some Suffolk roads

SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - On Friday, Jan. 20, a few road closures might lead to traffic delays in the City of Suffolk.

  • A flagger will direct traffic with one lane closed in 4300 to 5200 block of Godwin Boulevard from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. every Tuesday through Friday. This work is expected to continue through 2012.
  • In the 3800 block of Bridge Road, a shoulder and lane may be closed to conduct construction projects for the Bridge Road Medical Office Complex. This work is expected to continue through March 2012.
  • Utility work will close various lanes on West Washington Street. This work will be performed from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. through Feb. 3.
  • Garfield Avenue between Harrison Street and Pitchkettle Road will be closed until 3 p.m. to place pipe underneath the roadway. Traffic will be redirected around this street.
  • Public Works will close a lane on Route 58 westbound between O'Kelly Drive and the Southampton County line until 3 p.m.
  • Ongoing work on Sleepy Hole Road on the southbound side may close the shoulder and lane in the 4600 and 4900 blocks. This work is expected to continue through April 2012.
  • The northbound lane in the 1000 block of Carolina Road is closed until 3 p.m.
  • Pothole repair operations are in effect until 3 p.m.
