SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - A North Carolina woman is in custody on felony charges for hitting a teen dressed as a Chick-fil-A cow and fleeing the scene.
Brittany Knight, 19, suits up as a cow every day to promote Chick-fil-A on Suffolk's Main Street.
Monday afternoon, Knight was on her way outside when she was struck by a woman picking up food in the drive-thru. She said the woman got out of the car but quickly got back inside, paid for her food and left.
"Accidents do happen, so I'm more disappointed that she didn't stick around to make sure that I was okay," Knight said. "She just left me laying on the ground."
Knight suffered a broken leg as a result of the accident.
Diana Klink with the City of Suffolk said 38-year-old Katrina Boone of Sunbury, N.C. was arrested Wednesday for felony hit and run - personal injury.
Klink said Boone had contacted the Suffolk Police Department and Chick-fil-A about the accident prior to her arrest.
She said according to law, a suspect is required to report their name, address, driver's license number and vehicle registration number to the police and provide reasonable aid to the person struck.
