Students tricked by the leprechaun

Leprechaun up to his old tricks

Virginia Beach, VA (WAVY) - The first-graders at Princess Anne Elementary School couldn't wait to check their leprechaun traps Wednesday morning.

But there was a problem. The leprechaun was up to his old tricks and no one could get the doors open.

When they finally did get into the classroom. Everyone could see that the leprechaun had been running around all night.

"He got a footprint on my desk and the gold," said first grader Faith Brown. "He got all this sparkly stuff."

All the traps had been sprung but there was no leprechaun to be found.

"The leprechaun went into my trap and he crunched my gold....my gold box," said Susanna Buck.

But there was something else in the traps.

"[We all] got chocolate and pencil," said another student.

And that pesky leprechaun also left a note for the kids.

"It says 'Ha ha he he, I'm very tricky you see. Irish gold and Irish cheer, better luck next year," read Ryley Marx.

So for another year, the leprechaun out-tricked the first graders at Princess Anne Elementary School, but the students came pretty close to catching that little troublemaker in green.
