CHESAPEAKE, Va. - Last month, WAVY.com first introduced you to Lauren Johnson, a 12-year-old Chesapeake girl suffering from unexplained chronic sneezing. Lauren's sneezing had so many doctors baffled her story gained national attention. She was even featured on NBC's Today Show.
It's a story painfully familiar to a 22-year-old Pennsylvania woman who once endured the same problem. But as Renee Chenault-Fattah reports, she was finally cured.
As for Lauren Johnson, doctors have recently diagnosed her with
PANDAS or Pediatric Auto-immune Neuro-psychiatric Disorder, which
is usually brought on when a child is fighting strep throat.
Since her diagnosis, Lauren has been on antibiotic and
steroid therapy and her sneezing has improved.
