Shot in Chesapeake, found dead in Norfolk

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Police believe a man shot in Chesapeake is the same man found dead hours later in Norfolk early Sunday.

"He was a good man. He got two jobs. He got a daughter. His life was really set. I don't know why anybody would do this but stuff happens," said Michael Robinson.

Robinson's cousin, 27-year-old Troy Sargeant, was shot off Woodlake Drive in Chesapeake early Sunday and found dead a couple of hours later off Trice Terrace in Norfolk, according to investigators.

"I heard it was a party. It was a party and I guess it went bad and shots was happening," Robinson explained.

Another cousin, Brittany Robinson, told WAVY.com, "We're not taking it too well. Nobody's telling us nothing. We just want to know why? Why my cousin?"

She thought of Sargeant as a mentor. "That was my oldest cousin," she explained. "I looked to him and it just hurts that he's gone. Whoever did this to him I hope they get time and get what they deserve, because my cousin didn't deserve to get taken out like he did. He got a daughter. His daughter is six. My little cousin got to live without a father now."

A candlelight vigil is set for 7 p.m. Wednesday in Norfolk along Trice Terrace.

Police did not release any suspect information, but if you can help them call the Crime Line at 1-888-Lock-U-Up.
