Sailor using Facebook to find kidney

HAMPTON ROADS, Va. (WAVY) - Sailor Max Brown is tapping into an unusual resource to find a kidney donor, Facebook.

According to the Facebook page set up for the search, Brown was hospitalized soon after his 29th birthday for chronic kidney disease.

While awaiting a kidney transplant, the father of eight-month-old Camden undergoes dialysis three times a week.

The Facebook page with nearly 440 likes urges any interested, potential donors to contact Nancy Dipatuan at Walter Reed Medical Center for more information. That number is 301-400-2516.

According to the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network , over 113,000 people are waiting for an organ transplant.
