NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - City leaders allowed residents of The Rotunda to move back into their lofts Saturday afternoon, 10 days after a series of arsons had officials concerned for their safety.
Norfolk Fire Chief Harry Worley said the building's homeowners association installed the proper safety and security programs that officials required before residents could reoccupy the building. Worley said property managers also had the building's electrical systems checked and repaired from water damage.
Norfolk fire investigators have an ongoing investigation into the five arsons at the upscale condominium building located in the downtown area of the city. The fires were set between Jan. 25 and Feb. 1.
Both FBI and ATF agents have joined Norfolk's investigation. Worley said he had no comment on the status of the investigation.
