CAMDEN COUNTY, N.C. (WAVY) - A 12-year-old girl has died after swimming with family in an above ground swimming pool, according to the Camden County sheriff.
Sheriff Tony Perry said deputies responded to a call in the 200 block of Horseshoe Road in South Mills for a report of a girl not breathing. When they arrived, cardiopulmonary resuscitation was performed on the child.
Perry said those efforts were unsuccessful. The child was then transported to Albemarle Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The child was swimming in about 4’ of water with family in a vinyl above ground swimming pool, Perry said. No foul play is suspected.
The child’s identity will not be released, Perry added.
