NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Crews conducted an emergency pothole repair during rush hour on Friday evening at the Downtown Tunnel.
I-264 eastbound at the Downtown Tunnel was closed as crews did a temporary pothole repair with a cold mix, Virginia Department of Transportation spokesperson Nora Chivers said.
Chivers said the pothole was repaired during rush hour because it was deemed a safety hazard to motorists.
A driver called up and said there was a bad pothole. VDOT went down to inspect and determined that the pothole was very deep.
The Downtown Tunnel has since reopened.
