NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Sometimes you can steer clear and other times you just can't dodge them.
Ten On Your Side went on pothole patrol from the air and ground. Finding the potentially car crippling craters was easy on I-264.
"I have a friend that ran through a week before Christmas, and he said it [threw] his front end out of line and he had to go get his truck lined up 'cause it was hard to steer," motorist Lewis Lee said.
They're a danger on every interstate and city street.
"A little car like this, you can get lost in one," said driver John Skinner.
WAVY.com set out in search of a repair crew and finally found one in Norfolk on Westover and Llewellyn in Ghent.
"We've done over 62 today," they told us. They said they're sure there are more to fill, they just don't know where.
City spokesman Bob Batcher said calls have been down at their reporting center.
Each city and VDOT count on residents to report potholes.
"Because the citizens are our eyes and ears," Batcher said.
Skinner made a report in Chesapeake last winter, "I had one right out in front of my house and they came right out in a couple days and patched that up."
Depending on weather conditions it may take a little longer, but crews want you to know they are working, and waiting for your call.
