PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) - A woman was killed when her car struck another vehicle, then overturned on Portsmouth Boulevard Sunday morning.

Police say just before 8:30 a.m. a red Kia was traveling west on Portsmouth Boulevard when a green Oldsmobile turned from Martin Avenue onto Portsmouth Boulevard and the two cars collided. After the impact, the Kia overturned, according to police.

Medics responded to the scene and found the woman driving the Kia unresponsive and suffering from trauma to the head. The woman died while en route to the hospital.

She has been identified as Francine Smith Harris, 65, of Norfolk.

The woman driving the Oldsmobile did not require medical attention.

The crash is being investigated by the police department's Strategic Traffic Unit and no charges have been issued at this time.
