PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) - A Portsmouth student has been charged for making threats against Cradock Middle School .

The 14-year-old student made the threats Feb. 29. Police say he entered a classroom just before 2:30 p.m. and asked the teacher about the whereabouts of other teachers.

When the teacher asked him why he wanted to know, the student made comments related to blowing up the school.

The teacher told administrators and the school resource officer.

Friday, the teen was charged with threats to bomb under Virginia State Code 18.2-83, police spokeswoman Jan Westerbeck said.

The student was released to his parents.
