PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) - In separate incidents within minutes of each other, two people were shot and a store was robbed in the Churchland section of Portsmouth.
According to Jan Clark with the Portsmouth Police Department, officers responded to a 5:14 p.m. call of a robbery at a Family Thrift Mart in the 3900 block of Towne Point Road. The suspect reportedly implied he had a weapon and left the area after taking an undisclosed amount of money. Clark says the man ran away but was captured near the intersection of Twin Pines Road and Towne Point Road. Charges are pending.
Within minutes of receiving the robbery call, police responded to a call of a gunshot victim in the area of the 3800 block of Twin Pines Road at a Gettymart convenience store.
Clark says two men had received gunshot wounds in the area of the 3800 block of Georgia Court. One of the men had walked to the Gettymart where police initially responded, while the other stayed at the shooting location on Georgia Court.
One victim was transported to Maryview Hospital and the other was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. Both are expected to recover, according to Clark.
Details of the shooting are under investigation.
