PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) - Captains from two Tall Ships testified at the HMS Bounty hearings Wednesday.

The Bounty sank off the coast of Cape Hatteras, N.C. in October 2012, during Hurricane Sandy.

One member of the Bounty's crew died and the captain was never found.

Captain Daniel Moreland of the Tall Ship Picton Castle expressed disbelief in the Bounty Captain's decisions that fateful day. "I can't for the life of me understand why there would be any reason at all for heading out under those forecasted warnings and conditions. I had Robins cell phone right in my phone. If I had any idea he was going to head out, I would have called up and yelled at him. 'What are you doing? Don't go out there.' I still can't believe it."

Captain Miles of the Tall Ship Pride of Baltimore II also testified at Wednesday's hearings, as did Bounty Deckhand Anne Sprague and Bounty Cook Jessica Black

Hearings have been underway at the Renaissance Portsmouth Hotel since Feb. 12.
