Senior Chihuahuas adopted in Portsmouth

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) - Ten senior Chihuahuas with country music star were adopted Wednesday at the Portsmouth Humane Society.

The dogs were brought to Portsmouth from an ASPCA shelter in Knoxville, Tennessee.

"Our volunteer and manager drove down to Knoxville Monday night and picked them up, so we have 10 dogs that are from a horrible hoarding case and we brought them back up to Virginia and hopefully we'll find them homes," Christie Chipps-Peters with the Portsmouth Humane Society said.

Allen Hollingsworth adopted one of the Chihuahuas Wednesday.

"We have a Chihuahua and we like them. They're good dogs.  We've been thinking about getting a second one, and just rather than go thru a breeder, get a rescue dog," Hollingsworth said.
