PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) - Portsmouth City Attorney Timothy Oksman resigned Tuesday evening.
According to Dana Woodson with the City of Portsmouth, the city clerk read a separation agreement between the city and Oksman during a council meeting. Oksman's resignation will be effective Dec. 31.

Oksman has served as city attorney since 1995.
He was born in Brooklyn and is a 1972 UVA School of Law graduate and has also served as Richmond City Attorney.
