PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) - Portsmouth firefighters responded to a house fire on Rivercrest Drive in Portsmouth Wednesday night.
Officials say one woman was home at the time of the fire; she was able to make it out of the house safely. Officials also tell WAVY.com they used a special breathing device to help save a dog suffering smoke inhalation due to the fire.
An investigation into what caused the fire remains ongoing.
