PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) - A Portsmouth man was killed during a robbery in his home early Saturday morning.
Jan Westerbeck with the Portsmouth Police Department said officers were called to the 200 block of Chowan Drive near Airline Boulevard just after midnight for reports of a shooting.
Detectives discovered two black male suspects knocked on the Scott Eugene Upshur's door and ordered the Upshur and another adult who was in the home to turn over an undisclosed amount of money, according to police.
During the robbery the suspects fired several shots, one of which struck Upshur. Medics took the 30-year-old to Maryview Hospital where he later died from his injuries.
