PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) - A Farm Fresh employee is facing an embezzlement charge after police say she scanned items and used coupons for food that wasn’t paid for in late March.
Jan Westerbeck, spokeswoman for the Portsmouth Police Department, told WAVY.com Deangela McGhee was an employee of the Farm Fresh located at 4000 Victory Boulevard. On March 29, March 30 and March 31, Westerbeck said McGhee scanned food items and then used coupons valued over $800.
Those items were not paid for, Westerbeck said.
Police arrested McGhee Wednesday and charged her with embezzlement.
It is unknown at this time why coupons were scanned if the items were not paid for.
