PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) - One person was injured in a house fire on 2809 Acres Road.

The fire started around 12:30 a.m. and declared under control around 1:40 a.m., according to Portsmouth Fire Department spokesperson Anna Silva.

There was a 65-year-old woman and her adult son who were staying at the house.

Silva said they were able to get out of their home, go to a neighbor's house, and ask them to call 911.

When the engine company arrived, there was fire coming from the roof of the home.

The woman had a burn on her back and was taken to Maryview Hospital and then transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

The son was not injured.

It is unclear what caused the fire.
