PORTSMOUTH, Va. - Police say a man tripped and then robbed a woman depositing money at a Portsmouth bank Monday morning.

According to Jan Westerbeck with the Portsmouth Police Department, the incident occurred at the BB&T bank at 5514 Portsmouth Blvd. shortly before 10 a.m.

Westerbeck says the woman, an employee of Wilco at the 3300 block of Victory Boulevard entered the bank hoping to drop off money. As she entered the bank, a man tripped her, grabbed her bank bag and fled on foot.
