PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) - A man and his four dogs made it out of a two-story house unharmed, when it caught fire Thursday afternoon on Hampton Place in Portsmouth.

The fire appears to have started in an upstairs bedroom, but investigators are not yet sure what caused the fire. As of 4 p.m., the fire had been put out.

The fire was mostly contained to an upstairs room, but most of the home sustained smoke damage. There was also a window blown out by the fire.
