PORTSMOUTH, Va. - Portsmouth firefighters kept busy Tuesday evening putting out two fires in the city.

The first broke out at a business on High Street near Effingham Street in Olde Towne.

The building, which housed the Holmes and Murray Manufacturing Company, went up in flames causing traffic to be re-routed while firefighters put out the fire.

The area has since been reopened.

Investigators say no one was hurt.

At around 10 p.m. on Tuesday a separate house fire broke out on Mount Vernon Avenue in the Port Norfolk area.

Smoke and flames shot through the home's roof and shattered windows.

It's still too early to determine a cause for both fires.
