NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - Newport News Police made a third arrest Tuesday, for the December 12, 2009 homicide of Jerome Houston. Nahfis Thalib Ahseem was wanted on Murder, Conspiracy to Commit Murder, Possession of a Firearm by a Felon and Failure to Appear charges.
An officer spotted Nichols at the Newport News Courthouse just before 11 a.m. and arrested him. He remains in the Newport News City Jail.
Police arrested the other two suspects, a 16 year old male and a 17 year old male, less than one week after the crime.
Officers found Jerome Houston shot to death around 1 a.m. in the 800 block of Lassiter Drive, on Saturday, December 12. Police believe the three suspects approached Houston, then one pulled out a gun and started shooting.
The 16 year old is charged with Murder, Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony and Possession of a Firearm by Felon.
The 17 year old male was taken into custody on Friday, December 18, 2009, and charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder and use of a firearm by a juvenile.
