Franklin Police arrest shooting suspect

FRANKLIN, Va. - Franklin Police have made an arrest in an overnight shooting.

Lieutenant Whitt with the Franklin Police Department tells WAVY.com that on November 18, 2009 at approximately 11:11 p.m. officers were called and responded to the 200 block of Stonewall Street, for a shooting victim.

Franklin officers were able to locate a 19-year-old Franklin man who had been hit twice by gunfire. The victim was shot once in the right chest and once in his left thigh.

The victim was transported via air ambulance to an area hospital where he remains in serious condition.

Franklin Detectives have arrested Alex Sentel Urquhart, 23, of the 300 block of Bruce Street.

As of 4:00 a.m. detectives took Urquhart into custody from his residence, without incident.

Urquhart is charged with Aggravated Malicious Wounding, Use of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony, Discharge a Firearm in Public Resulting in Bodily Injury.
