Missing Virginia Beach man returns home

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - The elderly man who State Police issued a Senior Alert for Sunday afternoon has returned home safely.
According to a Virginia Beach Emergency Communications supervisor, 76-year-old Donny Jay Matthews returned home after State Police issued the alert at 2:44 p.m.
Matthews had been missing since earlier in the day when he was last seen in the 1200 block Candlewood Drive.
Police said they issued the alert because Matthews suffers from a cognitive impairment, and his disappearance could have threatened his health and safety.
