NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Norfolk Police said they have begun an investigation into a sexual assault and burglary at an Old Dominion University off-campus home.

Police said an intruder entered an unlocked back door to a residence in the 1500 block of Longwood Drive around 1 a.m. Thursday. After the assault and robbery, the suspect fled on foot in an unknown direction, police said.

Police described the suspect as a male, 6 feet tall and 180 pounds with a medium build and last seen wearing a ski mask and dark clothing.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Crime Line line 1-888-LOCK-U-UP or the Old Dominion University Police at 683-4000.

Old Dominion University Police encourages students to ensure they have all doors and windows locked, be aware of their surroundings, keep an eye out for anyone in the neighborhood who may be watching them or their home, and report suspicious individuals to the Old Dominion Police Department immediately.
