HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) - A pedestrian was seriously injured Sunday afternoon when a car traveling on Magruder Blvd. swerved to miss something in the road.

Investigators told WAVY.com that at 12:41 p.m. a red 2006 Pontiac G6 was traveling northbound on Magruder Blvd. near Floyd Thompson Drive when it swerved to miss an obstacle in the roadway and struck a Newport News woman who was in the median and a parked Dodge pick up truck.

The woman was taken to a local hospital with serious, possibly life-threatening injuries, according to Cpl. Jason Price, a police spokesman.

The crash is being investigated by the Hampton Police Fatal Accident Team.
