Tall ships leave Norfolk after OpSail

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Ships began leaving downtown Norfolk at Waterfront at 6 a.m. Tuesday after a successful OpSail 2012 Virginia.

As the fleet of tall and Naval ships depart, they will follow in formation out of the Elizabeth River, past Fort Monroe in Hampton and turn north in the Chesapeake Bay towards their next destination in Baltimore.

Those who would like to view the ships are encouraged to visit the OpSail 2012 website for a list of viewing locations.

The list of ships in order of departure are as follows:

6 a.m. - Naval ships depart
USS Fort McHenry, HDMS Esbern Snare, BAP Villavisencio, RFA Argus, FGS Hessen, BNS Independencia, USS Shamal, USS Monsoon, USNA YPs, HMCS Goose Bay, HMCS Moncton

8 a.m. - Tall ships depart
Virginia, Pride of Baltimore II, Dewaruci, Gazela, Cisne Branco, Bounty, Picton Castle, A.J. Meerwald, Cuauhtemoc, Guayas, Spirit Of Independence
