VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - A Virginia Beach Police officer has been arrested for taking indecent liberties with a minor.

On May 20, the Virginia Beach Police Department began an investigation after receiving a report that Master Police Officer Ronald Dunn, 44, had inappropriate contact with a juvenile during the last few months.

On Sunday about 4:45p.m., detectives arrested Dunn and charged him with one count each of Indecent Liberties and Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor. He was transported to the Virginia Beach jail where he was released on a personal recognizance bond.

Dunn was hired in January 1990 and was assigned to the Fourth Precinct. He was placed on suspension without pay pending the outcome of the investigation, according to police.

“We took it at face value he was trying to help some boy that seemed to have some challenges,” said neighbor Jeff Triplett.

According to a search warrant obtained by 10 On Your Side, police seized sexual paraphanalia, prescription medication and a computer amongst other items from Dunn's home.

Triplett's nephew, Josh Kimm says he knew MPO Dunn and the teenage boy.

“He would say school was going good and he was getting everything back on track and he was out of trouble and everything seemed normal from the outside,” said Kimm.

Neighbors say Dunn took in a teenager about a year ago.
